Frugal Craft Projects for Baby Shower Gifts

Another baby shower? If you encounter a lot of these it can really add up. Baby gifts can run from $10 to $100's of dollars depending on how much you want to spend. Then there is also the time commitment you make going out to the store and picking something up. Although making something also takes time, think about finding something you can make in bulk and then keep them until that next little pink and blue and invitation hits your mailbox. It's fun to make them and easy to use them up! Here are few projects you can use:

FABRIC DIAPER CASE

This comes from Jan Andrea on her website Jan Andrea At Home On The Web. She used a couple of fat quarters and some velcro to make this project. You could also make this out of material that you have recycled from some of your kids old clothing, especially if it is a juvenile print. Make up about five of these and put in a newborn diaper and a travel size plastic wipes case. Here is a link to Jan's site for directions for this project and more baby craft projects.

FABRIC BOOTIES

These come from the blog Cloth and Fodder.
Not only does she have several versions of these cuties but she also gives the pattern she used to make them. Make several of these in boy and girl versions to delight the new mom.

SIMPLE SHADE TENT

This simple project is listed on the Sewing.Org site
and they originally obtained it from Joann's. What a useful gift. It will protect the baby from the sun and then fold up for easy transport. Click on the picture for directions on how to make it.

SHOPPING CART COVER

Here is another one from Jan Andrea
. This is a really useful gift to help keep kids cozy and clean while shopping in the supermarket.

CRIB SHEETS PATTERN

Finally, a super easy project comes from Bundles of Love a site dedicated to helping Minnesota babies in need. Use a juvenile print , cut a rectangle, cut the squares out in the corner and stitch it up. It's that easy. To get better directions click here.
